My name is Kurt Uhlenhake. I have farmed 560 acres in northeast Iowa, near the town of Ossian, my whole life. I started farming in 1974 and in 1986 switched everything to Organic. I raise corn, soybeans, oats, hay crops and an organic beef herd.
Pressure Cure® is the backbone of my farm enterprise. Having this system allows me to harvest sooner and faster with less labor. Many years I have used my Pressure Cure® bins three times in one season – for oats, soybeans and then corn! The quality of the grains is much better since it is not heat dried. When I market my crops I receive as much as a .50/bushel premium.
Prior to Pressure Cure® I had no on-farm storage. As I searched for a system to store and better market my crops, I came upon the Pressure Cure® system and was intrigued by its potential for my organic markets. I contacted CMC and Mike Simon came out to do a free benefit analysis. The system in actual use returned even more than he told me it would!
The OPI-One temperature monitoring system is really nice. It takes the guesswork out of monitoring grain temperatures in the bin. The powersweep bin unloading systems are a turnkey, labor-saving device. The CMC Pressure Cure® system has become a vital partner in my organic farm operation.
