Pressure Cure® makes its own payment in lower drying costs and increased quality and test weight
Phillip Lamartiniere and his father L. J. Lamartiniere farm rice in central Louisiana, near Marksville. They first heard about Pressure Cure® drying last December at the U.S.A. Rice Outlook Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas where they met Kerry Johnson; their Pressure Cure® drying specialist. They were considering a new drying set-up for their rice production operation. After researching different drying options, they decided on the benefits of a Pressure Cure® drying system.
“Although the CMC system was a little bit higher than a stirrator and heater bin set-up initially, this system makes its own payment in lower drying costs and increased quality and test weight.” The Lamartinieres’ drying costs were reduced from .48 cents/bushel to .12 cents/bushel. The quality was also quite high for that particular variety of rice. The Cocodrie rice was rated at 105 over 115 and had a test weight of 49 lbs/bushel. “When we hauled the rice to the mill, they were amazed at the quality and were wondering what we had done to get it. We told them to call Kerry and talk to him.” They did, and are now considering expansion of their mill facilities with Pressure Cure® drying systems. When asked about the job that the construction crews did, Phillip Lemartiniere said, “Workmanship on the bins was good. And they did a good job on erection and assembly. I have to give Custom Marketing Company good marks on service!” Phillip and his father L.J. said that they would be happy to discuss their system and answer any questions from rice producers that may want to call. You can reach them at (318) 563-8782. If they are out just leave your name and number and they’ll call you back!
