Chris Johnson of Wahpeton, North Dakota has farmed for 31 years and is very pleased with the ease and profitability that his Pressure Cure® systems provide for him. He has three 6,000 bushel and two 20,000 bushel systems that he uses for wheat, soybeans and corn. "We start wheat harvest earlier at 18-20% moisture, straight cutting instead of swathing. We have seen higher test weights and better color."
Chris' most dramatic results, however, have been with corn. "In 2004, we Pressure Cured® approximately 33,000 bushel of corn that averaged 24% moisture. Actual electrical usage for those bushels was 5,089 or $.153/bushel. At the same time we hauled to local elevators. There we averaged $.31/bushel drying charges and test weight discounts. Corn averaged 24% moisture and 51# test weight. The following June we hauled the Pressure Cured® corn to the same elevator and I averaged 15.4% moisture and 55# test weight. In addition, corn dumped at harvest had 5‰ additional shrinkage, or $.09/bushel on $1.80 corn."
